Every puppy produced through Vanir McNabs is a member of our family for life, as are the owners who purchase one of our puppies. This means that we are available to our puppy owners for support and questions, always. Whether it is health, training or just to talk, we are here for you 100% of the time.
You will have lifetime access to our puppy owners Facebook group, as well, to ask questions, share pictures, videos, stories and keep in contact with other puppy owners!
We care about the inside and out of every puppy we bring into this world. That means we want to make sure they receive nothing but the best when it comes to eating healthy food. We feed a variety of high quality, grain inclusive kibble. This helps us build tolerance to a variety of proteins, grains and brands of food. This means that when you bring your puppy home, they will have an easy time eating whatever quality food you feel comfortable with.
We have strict protocols for the health of our puppies. We begin their deworming on a schedule at weeks 2, 4, 6 and 8.
Puppies will receive their first parvo/distemper vaccines by 8 weeks old at a licensed veterinarian.
Vanir McNabs puts a massive focus on making sure we only breed and produce dogs of the highest quality.
As a herding breed, McNab Shepherds are prone to genetic conditions which can easily be tested for and prevented through appropriate screening. Because this breed is active, they can be prone to joint issues. This is why we clear and grade our dogs' eyes, hips and elbows through the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals).
We use Embark to check and clear for these genetic conditions:
Degenerative Myelopathy
Collie Eye
Imerslund-Grasbeck Syndrome
MDR1 Drug Sensitivity
Myotonia Congentina
Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis
Primary Lens Luxation
Trapped Neutrophil Syndrome
& more!
We use OFA to grade our dogs on:
Hip Dysplasia
Elbow Dysplasia
Eye Examinations
We offer a 24 month health guarantee on each of our puppies for hips, elbows, eyes and genetic conditions. That means if your puppy were to be diagnosed with any of the above issues, we will make it right.
Vanir McNab Shepherds cares about every one of our puppies and their new owners! We want you to have a life full of happiness, health and fun. Because of this, we send each puppy home with a comprehensive Welcome To Our Family go-home packet! Included in this packet is:

We pour our heart and soul into creating puppies who are well-rounded and emotionally resilient to make your life and theirs as happy as possible. Every puppy we produce goes through an extensive socialization and enrichment program that follows each litter's developmental progress. We do ENS, ESI and more to make sure that your puppy comes home and is ready to go, to aid in as minimal of an adjustment time as possible. Of course, every puppy is an individual, but we work hard to help each puppy be as prepared as they can be by doing individual outings, car rides, beginnings of crate training and potty training, exposure to a large variety of sounds, surfaces, environments, adults, children, dogs, cats and more. We work hard on building strong stress resistance, emotional flexibility and recovery. This is just a small summation of the work, attention and love that goes into every puppy we bring into this world.
