One of the most important things we focus on in our breeding program is genetic diversity, making sure that we are able to have fully health tested dogs and the ability to make matches based on sound temperament, structure and drives. With that being said, not every puppy produced in a litter is breeding quality, nor can we keep every puppy in our home to wait and find out! So, we offer co-ownership options to our puppy owners on puppies that show the greatest potential in maturing into a dog who we feel have the best prospective qualities to pass on in our breeding program. The benefits of this are allowing the potential of quality genetics to be kept and passed on, every dog is in a loving and active home where they are being titled and trained, and the breeder pays any and all fees associated with breeding. None of the breeding responsibilities lie with the owner, only with the breeder.

Co-ownership in responsible dog breeding helps strengthen programs by ensuring that more promising dogs can be evaluated without every dog needing to live with the breeder. This creates greater genetic diversity, which is essential for long-term breed health. Not every puppy raised or kept back will mature into true breeding quality, so having dogs placed in co-own homes allows breeders to assess a larger pool of potential breeding prospects while still giving each dog a dedicated, enriched family life. Co-ownership also supports responsible decision-making, letting breeders maintain oversight of health testing, structure, and temperament evaluations, while owners enjoy a well-loved companion that contributes to the future of the breed.
For families purchasing a puppy on a co-ownership, the arrangement is designed to feel much like owning a beloved companion, with a few added responsibilities that support the breeder’s program. The breeder covers the cost of all required health testing, while the family simply ensures the dog is taken to scheduled vet appointments and kept in good condition for evaluations, or made available if and when the dog would be needed for breeding. The dog lives full-time with the family, enjoying a normal home life, and the breeder will guide them through any steps related to training, socialization, or future breeding plans. In many agreements, the breeder may use the dog for a limited number of litters or stud services, and once the terms are fulfilled, full ownership is signed over to the family. Overall, co-ownership allows families to enjoy their puppy as their own while partnering with the breeder to help preserve and improve the breed.
Co-ownership offers meaningful benefits to both the owner and the breed. For owners, it provides the joy of raising a high-quality puppy with ongoing support from the breeder, who handles all health testing costs and guides them through any breeding-related steps. Families get to enjoy their dog as a beloved companion while knowing they’re contributing to the betterment of the breed. As the breeder, I also thank co-own homes for their partnership by offering a free future puppy if their co-owned dog is successfully used in the breeding program. For the breed itself, co-ownership increases access to strong genetics, expands diversity, and allows breeders to evaluate more dogs without overcrowding their own homes. It’s a collaborative way to maintain high standards, protect breed health, and reward owners who help make that possible.
